Therapy for Relationships with Emotionally Immature Loved Ones

Therapist for Adults with difficult family relationships in Minnesota and Missouri

Sometimes you don’t even notice that your extended family relationships are the problem? Maybe you even feel like you are the problem.

Maybe you have noticed you are ignoring calls from your dad or perhaps you are increasingly annoyed each time you have a family get together with how your mom treats you. You may be struggling to exist in the same space as parents. Or you’re simply avoiding all interaction if you can get away with it. Perhaps you’re feeling so many negative emotions that you wonder if its even worth it to maintain a relationship.

Whatever it is that you’re experiencing, you’re beginning to notice the impact of this in every facet of your life:

  • you are finding it difficult to verbalize your wants and needs

  • you feel guilty about not getting along with your parents

  • your venting to your partner or friends about the situation has become too frequent

Therapy for unhealthy family situations can help.

It may feel impossible now, but you can figure out what you what from your relationship with family. You can coexist in a world where your needs are prioritized. You can set boundaries and learn what a type of relationship you want. You can be on a path towards a more healthy relationship with parents. And I can help you get there.

Therapy helps you do 3 things:

  • Learn about healthy vs. unhealthy family dynamics

  • Find space to consider the type of relationship you might want with family

  • Learn the tools and skills to improve your boundary setting health, so you can be on a path towards a satisfying life.

I’ll help through this process, tailoring each step to your unique needs and circumstances. My approach to therapy comes from a place of empowerment and understanding: believing that you as a person are not the “problem”, but that unhealthy relationships are simply a cycle you're in that needs fixing.

you don’t have to be overwhelmed with worry or anticipate the next thing.

it’s time to start feeling calm and confident and I can help you get there.
